Comment 22 for bug 1404858

I have a problem with video on the GM965 but it did not go to black screen. Instead black bars would appear in different windows (looks like bar codes and always horizontal). This happens on multiple machines with Linux Mint 17.2 and LMDE 2. A restart of the program affected or Cinnamon (when the lines occur within Cinnamon) works but the problem is reoccurring. Attached is a screenshot of Chromium with the problem - the lines can vary in size.
The closest thing I found to my problem was this thread and the laptop I am using is a Lenovo T61 Product Name: 7661V52
as mentioned by the reporter but perhaps slightly different.
I have updated the BIOS today to 7LETD0WW (2.30 ) Release Date: 02/27/2012 and will monitor the machine to see if that solves the problem.
