Bug Description

Linux Mint 12 Gnome 64 bit
I tried to install a network printer. I unlocked system tools and clicked on the + to add a printer.
I got the message:
FirewallD is not running. Network printer detection needs services mdns, ipp, ipp-client and samba-client enabled on firewall.

One workaround: Add your user to the group lpadmin (sudo adduser <yourusername> lpadmin) then logout/login again & go to http://localhost:631 in a browser. This will give you the cups web interface (which can be used to add a printer).

I use Linux Mint 13 / 64Bit / Cinnamon.
Same problem here. If I open Menu > Preferences > Printers, I can not add or config a printer.

If I open a shell and run system-config-printer I can add my printer and config it.

Used Ubuntu 12.04 before, didnt have the problem here. Seems Ubuntu starts system-config-printer by default,
if you go to Menu > Preferences > Printers.
