Bug Description

Hello.
In Ubuntu Oneiric, after Firefox update to 12.0 version don't work Russian locale. I see Firefox with English locale only.
Package firefox-locale-ru is installed. The command "printenv LANG" show "ru_RU.UTF-8".
If I try "LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8 firefox" then I don't see Russian, but see English.
But in Thunderbird 11.0.1 Russian locale work well. Only Firefox was updated and have this bug.

Same problem with Finnish, also, as reported in the forum, Swedish and German seem to have this failure.

Problem (kind of) solved, install your language pack from:

http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/12.0/win32/xpi/

In fact there are several paths a extension can be put in.

For example, mint-search-addon put the extension in:
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>

But firefox-locale-* package just put the xpi in /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions.

Maybe the search path of firefox changed, or it forget to search extensions in /usr/lib/firefox-addons.

I think it is a upstream bug.

if you make a link in /usr/lib/firefox/extensions then problem will be solved.
e.g. "sudo ln -s /<email address hidden>" in /usr/lib/firefox/extensions.

If your reference to "upstream" means "Ubuntu", then I can tell you it isn't an upstream bug.

${LIBDIR}/extensions has always been a symlink to /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions, where ${LIBDIR} is the Firefox installation location. However, we've dropped the version number from the installation folder (so it just becomes /usr/lib/firefox) to solve bug 807733 as well as various issues related to searchplugin metadata being lost on upgrade. Unfortunately, mint installs something in to /usr/lib/firefox/extensions for some reason, which means that the symlink is not created on upgrade like it normally is

I used the method posted by Olli (olli-kinnunen). I install new language pack from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/12.0/win32/xpi/.
It is solve my problem, but I think this method is not right. This bug is not solved in Oneiric repo packages.
