I am very sorry for the long delay. Until now I have expected feedback via the Ubuntu Forums or via email. I discovered that there are bug reports about mkusb here today.

I think your patch applied to the current version will work. Anyway, I will do some tests before I upload it, probably during this weekend.

Thank you for testing! I didn't expect anything less: it is a GOOD
practice. Thanks for being thorough.

That is clearly not a critical bug (i.e. not a crash) so there was no
harm in waiting and I could automate the patching after 'apt-get upgrade'
