Album art could not be edited

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This is due to us currently using the thumbnailer to load the album art. We supply the artist and album of the track, then the thumbnailer service queries Last.fm for cover art.

I agree ideally we should use any cover art set in the file/folder primarily and fallback to using Last.fm. Mediascanner2 would probably have to supply the album art to us, I see there is already an 'art' property [0], but this would need investigating to see if it acts as expected.

The new thumbnailer automatically detects when a local file has been changed and re-generates the thumbnail in that case. If remote artwork changes, but the local file is not updated, it re-checks once every two weeks, in case album art has been added or updated in the server.

This still occurs... Some tracks show the correct album artwork, some show the incorrect album artwork from an online source (online?), most show no album artwork at all.

Every music folder on my smartphone contains album artwork with an identical name to the folder, and also the album title as per the metadata.

Music should online pull album artwork from external sources if there is no album artwork locally... Like music players, music should assume that any album artwork in the folder with an identical name to the folder and the album metadata is the correct album artwork, prioritizing it over all other album artwork.
