Bug Description

I started noticing this today, when I upgraded to 11.04 from 10.10. Whenever a window is above a certain size (different for different applications), the window will become blank white, and stay that way until resized smaller. I first noticed it in Empathy, however quickly found it in others as well. In some cases, this does not happen however, such as when an application is launched from the pannel at the top. Even the session log in form is affected, when I have been inactive for a while (this was fine for the first few attempts, but then didn't work...). It may have something to do with the unity package, however I cannot be certain of this.

As it seems, if I don't start Empathy, this bug does not occur in the session.

affects: ubuntu → empathy (Ubuntu)

It turns out that isn't the case either. I have just experienced the problem again, in gedit, after having just mounted a volume sdb. These two events may or may not be related, however mounting the volume had no effect yesterday, so it is doubtful this is the cause, however Empathy hasn't been open at all today.

affects: empathy (Ubuntu) → ubuntu

Ditto Symptoms - I have the same problem.
Clean Natty install today. Nvidia driver (Although, apparently due to a jockey bug, it claims not to be in use, although it actually IS).

It is mostly when running Empathy and Evolution, but yesterday I noticed it once when neither were running. It is definitely linked to them both, however, from what I can tell.

I have seen the white-out-on-Increase-size in many apps, including Banshee, Movie player (Could not go full-screen), and Firefox.

I saw an Internet board posting that said this works if you revert to Version 173 of the Nvidia (Additional Driver).
(Needs reboot).
I have done that, and so far so good - Window resizing seems to be working!

This happens to me on 12.10. And also blank windows - not just visually blank, you can actually see through them, i.e. if you move them, the image you see is not frozen, also you can click through.
