Bug Description

After creating an ordered list similar to that below...

1) Item Number 1
2) Item Number 3
3) Item Number 2
4) Item Number 4

If we select and copy the whole list and then attempt to paste it in later in the document, it will not retain its own order, resulting in...

5) Item Number 1
6) Item Number 2
7) Item Number 3
8) Item Number 4

This occurs no matter how far apart the two instances of the list are, or even if there is another list between them.

It may seem trivial, but it has added over an hour to my work today.

This is not a bug, but the default behaviour. You are expected to reset numbering when you start a new list of the same hierarchical level.

sorry, i find that odd, if I'm copying and pasting a list i expect the whole list to be copied if i have that whole list selected, including numbering.

I also find that this behaviour occurs in another inappropriate way. If I copied a line of text out of one list and paste it in to another completely separate list, that line then adopts the numbering system of the list the paste came from even when this makes no sense.

1) one one
2) two two < ----- if i copy only the text after the number on this line
3) three three

-----

1) un un
2) deux deux <------ and paste it in here
3) trois trois

-----

1) un un
4) two two <------ i get this
3) trois trois

-------

I can understand the necessary functionality of this behaviour in similar circumstances as my original example in the bug report. But I can see no need for the behaviour in this second example.

Ryan,

I can reproduce the issue where the numbering doesn't get restarted in a copy/paste of a list. However, I am unable to reproduce the misnumbering in the middle of a list while pasting. If you can still reproduce this on Ubuntu 7.04 please let me know. Also please tell me the exact steps you performed to cause the misnumbering to occur in the middle of the list.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

Chris,

Here is a screencast of me reproducing the middle-of-list misnumbering.

Hope this helps

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

This bug seems to be completely fixed in latest LibreOffice.

I'd be interested to know when it was fixed if any such information is available.
