Bug Description

Unlike fah_install and finstall, origami gives no option to specify the core priority (idle or low). A command should be created to do something like this:
sudo origami install -t 45104 -u aust77 -cp low
(-cp meaning core priority)

This being on Ubuntu 9.04, with origami 0.6.7.1

It's funny you should mention this. Christer actually brought up this idea just the other day. I have a feeling it will be implemented very soon :)

Thanks swoody for your timely response! I thought it would take much more before this was recognised.

I have added this feature to the install options. It is available now in the latest bzr trunk (bzr branch lp:origami).

The option is: sudo origami install -u USERNAME -t TEAMNUMBER -C low

The default value for -C is "idle" (which is also the client default), but setting "-C low" will toggle the core priority.

Pending testing and verification this will be pushed to the PPA and the lucid package by the end of the week.

Thanks Christer! I'm installing the latest bzr version as I write this. I will let you know if the function works properly.

Uh oh. I don't have bzr 1.16 (I'm on Jaunty). Doesn't look like I'll be able to use this until Lucid, as I haven't found a way to properly get bzr 1.16.

If you can hop into the irc channel #ubuntu-folding on
irc.freenode.net we can help you get the PPA configured if you prefer.

Scratch that: I updated to bzr 1.16 using ppa keys, etc. Origami is working well, and the core priority is set to "0" in the client.cfg file. I'm not sure if that's what it's supposed to be, nevertheless I am grateful for your quick help. I'm now back folding hard.

Just checking: Should work units be received instantly? Because I have had it installed for about 10 or so mins, and it said no work units have been received. There is no unitinfo.txt in the /var/lib/origami/foldingathome/CPU1/ directory. FahMon says there is something wrong with the client. Is there anything wrong here?

Work unit assignments can take some time, and this issue has been
raised in the past. In the latest versions of origami (which it sounds
like you have found) it no longer gives the abrupt error about "file
not found:". Instead it should simply mention that no WU has been
assigned yet.

I have seen it take hours to get a WU assigned in the past, yet other
times simply restarting the client seems to jumpstart things.

core priority 0 means it is running at its default setting, which only
uses idle processing power. if the core priority were set to 96 it
would be running at a higher rate. these, and other settings, can be
changed using the 'sudo origami configure' command. this feature is
currently only available in the latest trunk, but will make it into
the latest packages in time for 10.04.

let me know if you have any more issues or questions.

Alright, I appreciate your help, however the install did not work out. I had to manually remove all of the directories to get it off my CPU. For now, I will use fah_install, not as an insult to your or as an insult to your efforts, but just to keep a client folding while I wait for 10.04. Please do not be offended, I will use origami come Ubuntu 10.04.
