Bug Description

Would be nice to provide "Open Terminal Here" functionality in Files context menu, like the one found in Thunar.

Marlin in fact has this feature. Personally for me this feature is crucial to my workflow and I'm hard-pressed to decide between Marlin and Files to have this.

We should make a contract to implement this function, it's easy :)

We've been through this in another bug report. "Open terminal here" is an "Open With" menu entry, not a Contractor action (Dan said so).
To implement this via "Open With" we'll have to:
1) Add "MimeType=x-directory/normal;inode/directory;" to the .desktop file of pantheon-terminal
2) Make Files support "Open With" for folders (in case it doesn't), and specifically "Open With" for current folder in its context menu (in case it doesn't).

Maybe Terminal window in Files should be better solution:

Look at the popularity and heat of this bug. It's important for many people, so it should have higher importance, I think.

Can "Open Terminal" can be implemented as a Phanteon Files plugin? So, more experimented users can install the plugin while rookies users have a simpler UI.

Perhaps if the option were implemented in the right-click menu for the breadcrumbs-style address bar. Right now there's an option for "Open in new tab" there. Not a stretch to imagine that "Open in terminal" would als be there.

Yes, I don't see why not.

Jeremy, I see that you've written code for this functionality. Any chance of it making it into luna's 0.1.* branch?

Hello James

The branch has been proposed for merging into trunk and is currently under
review. There are still some minor issues that need fixing but hopefully
it will be ready soon.
