The mandriva secteam solution for this problem was to provide all the packages required by an update together with the update itself.

E.g., if updated version of appA now requires appB from main repository, it was simple rebuilt alongside appA and released with it.

This actually make sense from the support point of view, as it ensures that when package gets new requirements, those requirements are available alongside it.

Yes, it causes rpm duplication and such, but still it looks like the correct way to do it for me..
