Bug Description

Currently we make extensive use of sprea- ubuntu with in most walks of Ubuntu huge emphassis in using it with in loco's and other official ubuntu teams.

I know the goal is to move it to spreadubuntu.com but for the time being I think it would be of huge benefit for the site to at least be hosted by Ubuntu or on an official ubuntu.com domain name. This will make urls used in the past still valid and only minor changes need to be made when the conversion eventually happens.

I know it has been hosted on neomenlo.org for some time now and they have done a great job but I think it is time to make it an official effort.

summary: - Hostname should be on official ubuntu.com
+ Hostname should be subdomain of ubuntu.com

I totally agree with you, the challenge is finding the right people in Canonical to make it happen.

We've already have a ticket in with them about this for about a year now, or something.

If you happen to know who we need to talk to, I'm sure we could make it happen. Everyone we've talked to has expressed support of the project, but none have had the power to do either this or the spreadubuntu.com domain. (we can do both)

Does any one know how the right people are?

Is all of the images/data/information even backed up?.... Something like this should fall under canonical's responsibility if something was to happen to all that artwork it would suck.

Maybe the topic title should change to "spreadubuntu should fall under official hosting"

I'm downloading a backup of the whole thing right now.

Did you know we have 2 GB of data? Thats a pretty impressive collection. The database alone is 71 MB.

Personally, I don't really care who hosts it. I completely agree that it does need some kind of attention by Canonical.
