Telegram hangs after update

Bug Description
After a long time not updating Telegram i decided to update it today.
After restarting it shows "Chats" on top of the screen and in the center the wheel turning. It's been like this for over 80 minutes now. Restarting it, or the phone, doesn't fix it.
(I only use Telegram to chat with my gf, i don't want to reinstall the app because i want to keep our history.)
I'm going to keep searching for help in order to fix this.
I'm using Iphone 5s. OS version 7.1.
