Can I add something to this, although the ath5k is often "said" to be working, it is not, it suffers from very bad transfer rates, random lockups that require a reboot, and general flakiness. Even the backports version suffers from the same problem. The only version that seems to work is the patched madwifi version, and that is not an acceptable approach for non-technical users. The ath5k version does not support the wifi softleds either, that is only available on the madwifi version.
