Bug Description

In Libreoffice write for example all menu items in the gloal menu are gray and unclickable. Even stuff like "quit" or "about libreoffice". Using the keyboard shortcuts to access the items works though and it's possible to open sub-menus but nothing in them is clickable.

This happens with several other apps like Gnome Terminal, Sublime Text (3 party package) and shotwell.

The imagage viewer has the first menu working but not the other. Firefox seems to work. The single menu of nautilius works too.

I found a smiliar bug against Libreoffice but maybe it's a different problem.

I guess I should mention that I'm running a dual monitor setup on a Nvidia card. I installed the latest Nvidia driver from the x updates ppa because I had some problems getting X to start first. If this matters.

This problem is indeed caused by installing GTK 3.10 (from 14.04 or elsewhere).

libgtk-3-0 3.10.6-0ubuntu1~~saucy1 [origin: unknown]

This is the problematic package. Downgrade this package (and other upgraded packages depending on it) to 13.10 packages and the problem is fixed. I don't know if this is a problem with the package itself and also occurs in 14.04 (unlikely) or if it's just the combination of 13.10 and some 14.04 packages.

Apparently this is the source of the package.

I have confirmed that it also occurs by installing this package.

Hello,

I've run an aptitude-show libgtk-3-0 here, and got version 3.10.7, not 3.10.6. The bug still occurs. Package libgtk-3-common also are in version 3.10.7. I have https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team as an active package source, as I have GNOME 3.10 installed on my Ubuntu 13.10.

Running apt-cache policy, I got these candidate versions (my Ubuntu are localized in Brazilian Portuguese):
libgtk-3-0:
  Instalado: 3.10.7-0ubuntu1~saucy1
  Candidato: 3.10.7-0ubuntu1~saucy1
  Tabela de versão:
 *** 3.10.7-0ubuntu1~saucy1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     3.8.6-0ubuntu3.1 0
        500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy-updates/main amd64 Packages
     3.8.4-0ubuntu3 0
        500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages

So, I could do a downgrade to 3.8, but it should broke GNOME 3.10...
Any advices about how I can downgrade libgtk-3-0 to version 3.10.5?

I posted the bug report to "Ubuntu Gnome" team. Hope someone get it.
Please refer to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1280583 and add some extra technical information that should help find out the root reason.
