"Folder vulnerable" for /var/mail in default Ubuntu config

Bug Description
Having not done anything particularly interesting regarding my mail configuration, on a Natty desktop system, after having received one locally delivered mail (from sbuild), alpine goes "Folder vulnerable - directory /var/mail must have 1777 protection" every time I start it.
In fact, /var/mail is mode 2775.
