Unable to connect to Midi in on Tascam US-X2Y

Bug Description
The us-122 lights up, and I can make a midi connection through aconnect, jack or patchage to the midi-in port. However, no good connecting to the midi-out port.
Patchage gives me the best error output:
[ALSA] Subscription failed: Input/output error
