Bug Description

On Lenovo L450 laptop, when I boot the PC with headphones attached, then the sound via headphones will work, but there will be no sound from internal speakers when headphones are detached.

I tested this couple of times and the problem is always reproduced. This is the procedure A:

1. When the problem is not present, sound is present in laptop's speakers, connect the headphones
2. initiate reboot
3. once booted, initiate playing of some audio and check the sound from headphones - it will work OK
4. disconnect the headphones - there is no sound from internal speakers

Procedure B:
1. turn off the laptop (power off)
2. connect the headphones to the laptop
3. power on the laptop and boot into Ubuntu 15.10
4. once booted, initiate playing of some audio and check the sound from headphones - it will work OK
5. disconnect the headphones - there is no sound from internal speakers

is there some kind of hotfix? Can I restart any service to fix it w/o rebooting? Which file is this value in? Can I change that while running?

In the alsa-info-output there is not mentioned a file where this comes from.

Thanks for help!

Same issue, same machine as Peter. Dell 5510, upgraded to 16.04 -- at 1st the speakers worked, but the headphone would not. Now the headphones work, but the internal speakers don't.

I have sound through headphones but not internal speakers. The sound in the speakers came back after I plugged and unplugged my headphones several times and remained until after reboot.

I've check all sound settings including using alsamixer (nothing is muted). This bug really limits the use of my laptop.
