[, Realtek ALC233, Black Headphone Out, Front] Microphone Input Problem

This is an intel nuc NUC6i7KYK it has a combination headphone/microphone jack on the front. I am using a splitter. I've tested a working headset and my existing logitech headset with the input/output splitter for the port and in both cases the microphone is not getting any input.
