bash returns carriage twice when previous command does not end with line feed

Bug #408326 reported by guillaume_u

Bug Description

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and bash from Canonical's repositories (3.2-5ubuntu1)

if you run : echo -n hello,

then input a long command that spans on two lines,

you will see that on the second line of the command, as you type the first characters, bash returns to the beginning of the line after the fifth character (5 like the length of "hello").
