Bug Description

Was using Clementine to transcode from .flac to .ogg (vorbis) in Ubuntu 11.10 and when upgraded this quit working:

Sun Jun 17 20:05:27 2012: Transcoding 1 files using 2 threads
Sun Jun 17 20:05:27 2012: Starting /home/rickan/Music_120530.flac/Yo La Tengo & The Lost City Rumblers/Occupy This Album/09 - Big Fish.flac
Sun Jun 17 20:05:27 2012: Could not create the GStreamer element "decodebin2" - make sure you have all the required GStreamer plugins installed
Sun Jun 17 20:05:27 2012: Could not create the GStreamer element "audioconvert" - make sure you have all the required GStreamer plugins installed
Sun Jun 17 20:05:28 2012: Using 'oggmux' (rank 256)

have tried re-installing Clementine and Gstreamer packages with no effect

Sound Converter and OggConvert also do not work and both complain about missing decodebin

None of my searches for help have produced results.

It sounds like gstreamer might have blacklisted some core plugins for some reason (maybe you've installed a conflicting version of gstreamer from source?).

Try removing the plugin registry files in ~/.gstreamer-0.10/registry* and start Clementine again.
If that doesn't work, remove the files again, run gst-inspect and look for error messages about failing to load libraries.
