I had a key open in dconf-editor and I think it's values were changed when I opened System Settings.

It actually seems to crash if currently visible elements are removed from the configuration tree.

For example, it can be triggered reliable by removing applets from gnome-panel while viewing gnome-panel's config regarding this applet in dconf-editor.
