Was looking for a similar issue to report against.

In my configuration, I had previous release of Ekiga running on Intrepid. I use it infrequently, mainly for voicemail but have both an Ekiga.net and Diamondcard account so I can do full in/out calling.

Received a voicemail today and went to check it just to clear it from the outbound site. Found I could not make any outbound calls. Could make inbound calls. I'm running the alpha (current) version of Jaunty now.

Had a second computer sitting next to this one, also running Jaunty, but with x86_64 binaries. Configured Ekiga there with default settings and it worked correctly for Echo Test and outbound calling.

Removed configuration on this computer using "apt-get purge ekiga" and then "apt-get autoremove" and reinstalled. After new configuration of all attributes functionality was restored to normal.

Possibly upgrade process from Intrepid to Jaunty is broken? Was this not a major release change between Ekiga 2.x and now 3.x?

It's a show stopper for me for switching from Ubuntu 8.04 where everything is working fine.

I also tried "apt-get --purge remove ekiga" followed by "apt-get install ekiga", but it did not help.
I am using a USB headset, too, but it doesn't work, with or without.
I have tried to run with and without pulse-audio, as I suspected this to be the problem, but no success.

then make a proper telephone call.

Hi,

There many different issues here. I will stick to the first entry:
"when I make echo test ,the call gets disconnected immediately.
I use ubuntu 8.10."

For other issues, please open new bugs or we wont be able to solve this one properly. I will close this one if we can solve the issue above.

The number to call for the echo test is:

sip:<email address hidden>

Since Jaunty, Ekiga has a roster and it has the echo test directly available in it (Ekiga 3.2.0), just double-click on it.

Yannick

Same here. I'm on Jaunty though. I didn't want to open another bug report unless someone tells me it's a different issue from the original 8.10 report.

Here are my details:
Ubuntu 9.04
Ekiga 3.2.0

During initial setup of Ekiga I went through the configuration wizard without setting up the call out account and using an old sip account. It registered successfully with ekiga.net but when I try the echo test (from the default local roster) it tries to connect but then I get "call completed" immediately in the status of the softphone.

I tried using a new ekiga.net account with the same results.

I did a "sudo aptitude purge ekiga", "sudo aptitude update", "sudo aptitude ugprade" and then reinstalled with "sudo aptitude install ekiga". configured the same two accounts and still no echo test.

I tried calling other sip accounts and nothing happens.

@Again617,

In your case, the issue is with the REGISTER process: Ekiga fails to register to Ekiga.NET, consequently the attempt to call the echo test is refused (that's an Ekiga.NET policy, there's nothing wrong with it).

This is wrong as the REGISTER is not completed: the authentication process is not finished yet (lacks 1 more step). I'll push it upstream.
