evolution cannot be runfrom the unity panel

edubuntu 9/29 live session. I run evolution from a terminal window and when the icon is put on the unity panel, I lock it on the launcher. I close evolution and try to run it again pressing the icon I have on the launcher: the icon flashes for a while, then it stops flashing and evolution is not run.
