Evolution will put junk into the wastebasket using the option of auto delete, but this justs increases the number of messages to be eliminated. Is there a work around ,I currently have 1200 approx,,,,, This slowing down the application and reminds me of windows.

Hi,

Emptying the wastebasket by right-clicking and selecting 'Empty Wastebasket' works for me. I see a different bug around messages deleted from the Inbox overwriting each other, but don't have the problem you describe.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Thanks for looking at this here is a better explanation.
In options i have set delete on exit from wastebasket does not work. right click on waste basket gives error while expunging evolution trash. lf i try to delete a single file the curser goes to the next file. In the previous version on 10.4 the wastebasket sign was not active.
In junk with the same option to delete, the files just go to wastebasket. Iindividually or select all and delete same result.
In wastebasket ctrl e does not work not even an error meesage. I now have 1610 files in wastebasket is there a work around?
.
I also noticed in 10.4 to get the wastebasket to empty it would only execute if all messages in other folders were closed when using the auto option.

Hello
I cannot reproduce this issue, to empty the basket i select the wastebasket in the left panel then right click and select empty.
Don't use the wastebasket in the upper side of the panel.
See attached screenshot

Open a terminal and type

sudo nautilus

click on view and select hidden files.
browse in /home/gordon/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/folders.db, right click on it and select properties, select permission and verify that gordon is the owner and has read and write permission.

Try in the terminal to execute the operation that evolution cannot run (copy and paste these):

sudo mv /home/gordon/.evolution/mail/local/folders.db /home/gordon/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/folders.db

sudo rm /home/gordon/.evolution/mail/local/folders.db

sudo rm -r /home/gordon/.evolution/tasks

sudo rm -r /home/gordon/.evolution/mail

Fabio,

when entering the command :

sudo mv /home/gordon/.evolution/mail/local/folders.db
/home/gordon/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/folders.db

I got the message

mv: missing destination file operand
after /home/gordon/.evolution/mail/local/folders.db
/home/gordon/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/folders.db

By the way how does one copy paste in a terminal?
