Unbuntu Firefox Won't Download or Save to Network Share

Running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, Firefox 3.0.3

A download or "File/Save Page As" when saving to a network share never saves. There is no error message or any indication that it did not save other than the "Downloads" window not opening and of course the file not saving on the share.

A download or "File/Save Page As" to any locally mounted drive or the desktop functions correctly.

Other application besides Firefox are able to save to a network share without any issues.

Others have reported this bug specific to certain websites. This reporter is having issues with any and all websites.
