Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

On certain websites (the Facebook home after logging in), elements completely disappear, and only partially flicker in after moving the mouse over them.

Other websites such as YouTube, buttons have random lines come out of them. Not sure if this might be Cairo going awry or what it is.

SCrolling usually affects the elements as well, either making more show up or making them disappear.

I'm getting a similar thing here. It's mostly black rectangles randomly showing up, sometimes on the page I'm viewing, but sometimes replacing the status bar or other window elements as well.

I tried to make screenshots several times, but hitting the print button always makes the artifacts go away. As does moving the mouse or scrolling.

I'm also having similar issues with Firefox. When black rectangles show up over text, the the text appears to drawn in negative. Black rectangles usually move or disappear when scrolling.

I am also experiencing this. Flickering and black boxes appearing at random with Firefox. Scrolling usually makes it disappear. This happens even when Firefox is NOT in full screen mode and also happens with Compiz turned OFF.

Here is a screen shot of the flickering problem seen with Firefox. Again, this happens even when Firefox is NOT in full screen mode and it happens with Compiz turned OFF. Hope this helps in debugging the problem.

BTW...in the screen shot named "snapshot2.png" that was posted above, the flickering black rectangles that are representative of the problem that I observe are shown near the bottom of the captured Firefox screen.

What is also interesting is that I installed Kubuntu 9.04 on three computers around the same time. Two computers are actually identical in terms of hardware. I get this flickering black rectangle problem only on one computer. On the affected computer, I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04 beta 4 and upgraded to the final release when it came out. On the other two computers, I either did a fresh install of the final release, or I did an upgrade install from Kubuntu 8.10. Maybe this is unrelated.

I have the same problem - have to scroll up then down again to get the area to repaint so I can see the page.

This affects any application using xulrunner, not just FireFox
