Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I have a German keyboard and I cannot enter the following letters/symbols in Firefox:
@ (Alt-Gr + Q)
\ (Alt-Gr + ß)
€ (Alt-Gr + E)
{ (Alt-Gr + 7)
} (Alt-Gr + 0)
[ (Alt-Gr + 8)
] (Alt-Gr + 9)
| (Alt-Gr + <)
I currently need to type these in a terminal for example and use copy/paste.
Strangely ~ (Alt-Gr + +) is working

The problem also happens with other keyboard layouts (for example Polish)

This is not a problem of firefox, but an Ubuntu configuration issue, so this bug can be closed.

Solution:
System>Preferences>Keyboard>
Layouts tab
Layout options (button)
"Key to chosse 3rd level" => select the appropriate option
In my case AltGr corresponds to the right alt
Maybe you need to reboot

I also did the following before, but I don't know if this is necessary:
remove: /etc/default/console-setup
run: sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup
and there is the selection for AltGr as well

Ado is right that this is not a Firefox issue, but it still does not affect all applications. KDE applications do not manifest this problem (I am running Kubuntu), nor OpenOffice, but GIMP does. In my case the 3rd level choosers are left win and right alt (shift right alt as multi).

Changed in firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu):
