Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

The vlc-plugin does not play http password protected files.
firefox should give the plugin authentication informatio or the plugin should ask for.

vlc plugin plays without problem urls live:

http://username:password@host/resource

( with a Basic HTTP authentication )
can you please explain better your behavior?

You log in a http authentication protected site using firefox. If you open an media file on this site, looks like vlc is receiving only the url from firefox, but no authentication information.
