Bug Description

The Droid Sans Mono font has different character sizes in normal and bold variants, including the italic combinations.
This affects numerous programs that use the Droid Mono font, or those using Monospace family, since Monospace is aliased to Driod Sans Mono by default.

I am attaching a screenshot.

Droid Sans Mono only has one style: Regular. Bold or Italic styles are being programmatically generated by LibreOffice. So the problem isn't with the Droid Sans Mono font, but rather (arguably) with LibreOffice.

Libre Office is just for the display.
Other products (like the Terminal!) use the font and having improper attributed style leads to a very poor experience.

If there is no bold/italic etc. form of the font, I fail to see the reasoning to make it the default monospace font in the first place...

Since the UI to map fonts has been nerfed (in Xubuntu at least you can only specify a default font) I was forced to manually edit my ~/.fonts.conf to set monospace to 'dejavu sans mono'. I do not mind editing configuration files, but I sincerely believe a smart default here would negate such a need in the first place.

The absurd view of my code editor (with monospace that is not mono-spaced) is a constant reminder of this issue.

There is *definitely only* the Regular style of this font. I can say for sure for I've just used this font for a small part of my conky text output and it would not respond on either the italic style or on the bold one.
