also segfaults under en_US.UTF-8 locale in 6.06.1:

wenzhuo@thinkpad:~$ dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1024 count=10
10+0 records in
10+0 records out
Segmentation fault

en_US.UTF-8
