Bug Description
Program: gnome-control-
Installed version: 1:3.36.5-0ubuntu4 (ubuntu default download)
OS: ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
GNOME Version: 3.36.8 (ubuntu default download)
Windowing System: X11
Graphics: GeForce 8400GS/PCIe/SSE2
Driver: Using NVIDIA binary driver version 340.108
Source: download version from ubuntu
Steps to reproduce:
Reset GNOME settings with:
dconf reset -f /org/gnome/
Open GNOME Settings with:
/usr/
Click on "Displays" and receive:
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Repeated using gdb with package symbols.
Output of "bt -full" in attachment (with a few comments).
(Submitted to gnome.org, but they said it is out of date and not supported by them.)

Thank you for your bug report, the log has those warnings which is weird
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
could be somehow due to the nvidia drivers
