Impact
======
The new WebDav etc feature in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS does not support fastmail.com (or a different provider, mailbox.org) natively.

This was fixed in
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-online-accounts/-/commit/2efd2129
and
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-online-accounts/-/commit/cc6c0948
which are included in gnome-online-accounts 3.50.1

Test Case
=========
None

What Could Go Wrong
===================
See master bug for gnome-online-accounts 3.50.3 update LP: #2072782

Original Bug Report
===================
Even though GNOME Online Accounts now natively supports WebDav, CalDav and CardDav, it doesn't work with Fastmail. This bug was recognised upstream, and has been fixed upstream in 3.50.1.

Could Ubuntu release gnome-online-accounts 3.50.1 or newer in the Ubuntu 24.04 "updates" or "backports" repositories?

I am marking this verification-done since we included the bug number in the changelog for tracking purposes but we did not commit to doing individual verification of this fix.

David D Lowe (flimm) wrote :

I installed gnome-online-accounts 3.50.4-0ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 24.04, but it still doesn't seem to fix the issue.

This is what worked for me:

I open GNOME's settings, navigated to Online Accounts, clicked "Calendar, Contacts and Files | WebDAV", and entered these details:

Server Address: https://webdav.fastmail.com/
Username: Your Email address (e.g. <email address hidden>)
Password: Your DAV (CalDAV/CardDAV/WebDAV) app password

Now I can see Fastmail files in Nautilus, I can see Fastmail calendars in GNOME Calendar, and I can see Fastmail contacts in GNOME Contacts.

I had to leave the "Files", "Calendar (CalDAV)" and "Contacts (CardDAV)" fields blank for it to work correctly. Otherwise, I would get a "Try again" error, or a SIGSEGV (Address boundary error) crash.

For me, this bug is now fixed, since there now is a way to get Fastmail to work. If I have more time, I may report the other bugs upstream.
