Must exit screenshot app to take another one

Bug Description

Not sure if this is really a bug, but it surely irritates me.

Whenever I take a screenshot (printscreen) the Screenshot app fires up. I then copy the screenshot to my clipboard, open up gimp and do whatever i need to.

After that, if I need another screenshot. I press printscreen again. This time nothing happens. I have to manually quit the Screenshot app, and printscreen it again. I would prefer the printscreen button to override the existing printscreen, regardless of whether the screenshot app is running.

Regards,
Rob

This annoys me greatly also.

FYI, I believe this pertains to "Non-interactive mode" - that is, I pressed Print Screen without specifically opening the GUI.

Background: The UX expectation (from Windows) is that Print Screen simply places the screenshot into the clipboard. When Print Screen is pressed again, the previous clipboard is overwritten. A very tidy, fast UX flow.

Opinion: By not directly copying to the clipboard, the user must locate the Screenshot GUI and press "copy to clipboard" - irritating, but I suppose that's a matter of opinion. I'd suggest that by pressing Print Screen, I intentionally avoided the GUI - I don't want it.

BUG: However, if the GUI is already open, it DOES NOT refresh when I press Print Screen again. The Print Screen button is effectively disabled once the GUI is open. I have to find and close the GUI first. This behavior seems BUG worthy. This is especially irritating when the GUI is open on some other workspace, and Print Screen fails silently.

Ooh, this gets me the exact behavior I want:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys screenshot ''
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys window-screenshot ''
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys area-screenshot ''
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys screenshot-clip 'Print'
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys window-screenshot-clip '<Alt>Print'
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys area-screenshot-clip '<Shift>Print'

This disables the (worse than useless as described above?) gnome screenshot GUI by setting the keyboard shortcuts to directly go to the clipboard. Note that these are available with the Ctrl modifier by default, but I prefer the clipboard versions as the standard.

Bonus - it supports Print (full screen), Alt-Print (window), and Shift-Print (mouse-defined selection)!

Everything I wanted. Linux customizability for the win.

Super annoying as well.

FWIF, taking screenshots on Mac OS X is way easier.

Even better would be if gnome-screenshot had an "Edit" button but it doesn't look like it's coming any time soon.
