Bug Description

Launch "Removable drives and media preferences" (gnome-volume-properties) and try to select another software by clicking the browse button : instead of displaying the list of softwares available on the system it displays a window that offer the user to browse his hard disk : not very practical

I think that the "Browse" button (which could then be renamed) should display the list of softwares that have been installed (this option already exists with other apps - for instance while choosing a software from Nautilus to read a document from its MIME type)

Here is a screenshot of gnome-volume-propertie main window :

(problem exists in gutsy, hardy alpha 6...)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in gnome-volume-manager.

here is a screenshot of the "application chooser from document MIME type" (what's its real name ?!) of what could be done for "Removable drives and media preferences"

Confirmed. However, there is not much hope that this will be fixed soon, since gnome-volume-manager gradually gets deprecated entirely.

Most of g-v-m's previous job is now done by nautilus itself, and some parts by gvfs.

this bug can now be closed since g-v-m has been replaced by Nautilus which doesn't have this bug
