Canon pixma ip1600 printer not printing

Bug Description

On the screen everything looks great and printers light keeps flashing through the printing process.
I'm not sure if it's a cups problem or not.

Can you follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data" of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems?

Most probably your problem is somewhere in the Gutenprint driver.

The "Capturing print job data" section results:

- after re-enabling print queue the printer did nothing, but in the print queue the file showed up as printing just as before

The two files are correct i think.

All files you sent do not show any problems. The error_log contains a job of printing the test page and all filtering and rendering was performed correctly. The file from comment #5 shows that your editor converted the plain text file correctly to PDF (I have displayed it with evince).

This means that the problem most probably is that the output data stream got not understood by the printer. This is a problem of Gutenprint, the driver used here. This is an upstream bug of Gutenprint. Please report it on http://gutenprint.sf.net/.

I had my canon pixma iP1600 printer working well in Ubuntu 11.04.

Then I upgraded my Ubuntu to version 11.10 but the upgrade went wrong and I was forced to reinstall Ubuntu 11.10 from scratch. After that, I tried to install my printer just as I did before but I was not able to print with success anymore.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 11.10 a second time, this time without encrypting my home folder and I was able to print successfully. To take any doubts I reinstalled Ubuntu 11.10 a third time and again I could not print anything.

So, can someone help me to put my printer working in Ubuntu 11.10 with my home folder encrypted?
