2010-04-25 10:11:54 Conscious User description Binary package hint: indicator-me This is more or less the broadcasting version of Bug #442603 (recently fixed). Before Gwibber is opened for the first time, there is no text field in the Me Menu. After Gwibber is opened for the first time, the text field stays there, forever, even if you close Gwibber. While I understand that Gwibber has a daemon service that does not depend on its main GUI, it should be noted that the current behavior is inconsistent. Also, it is inconsistent with what Empathy does, as the status changes in the Me Menu are disabled whenever Empathy is closed. In Bug #548994, Matthew Paul Thomas stated that this is irrelevant whether Gwibber happens to be running. In Lucid, having accounts set up is not enough. The Gwibber service has to be running as well. In Bug #548994, Matthew Paul Thomas stated that this is irrelevant whether Gwibber happens to be running. In Lucid, having accounts set up is not enough. The Gwibber service has to be started at least once. A "workaround" for this bug is checking the option "start service on login" in Gwibber, but correct behavior would be to start the service on demand, the first time the field is used.
