Kadu is in universe package. They don't care about all stuff that is there. There are only taking packages from debian and rebuilding them for current version. Debian doesn;t have unity, so there are no patches for this DE.
We will try to add some workarounds for ubuntu and release today/tomorrow version 0.10.1. Prezu will upload packages to his ppa. That's everything we can do for now.
