Bug Description

Binary package hint: kopete

1) I'm using Kubuntu Maverick Meercat RC, upgraded via console's do-release-upgrade from latest Kubuntu Lucid Lynx.
2) Kopete package is 4:4.5.1-0ubuntu2.

After closing Kopete's contacts window, icon does not appear in system tray, therefore I cannot reopen contacts window. Also there's no incoming message's notification (as kopete is configured to show flashing messages in system tray).

Same behavior with version 4:4.5.2-0ubuntu1~ppa1 (installed from ppa:kubuntu-ppa).

I've just found out, that after update my settings has changed, so the 'Show system try icon' in Configure -> Behavior wasn't checked. Now everything works as before.

On Kubuntu 10.10 with Kopete 4:4.5.1-0ubuntu2.1 I have the same problem. The "Show system tray icon" checkbox is checked.

On Kubuntu 10.10 with Kopete 1.0.80 and KDE 4.6.1 clicking on the message indicator Kopete button only opens Kopete if the setting "Show system try icon" is active.

In Kubuntu 11.10 I do have the "Show system tray icon" checkbox checked. However, Kopete does not show in the system tray.

That's because Kopete is integrated in the "Message indicator" in the system tray.

If you de-install the package kopete-message-indicator, this integration is disabled and the tray icon will show as normally.
