Bug Description

Binary package hint: krb5-auth-dialog

Left unattended, krb5-auth-dialog will occasionally open a lot of notification windows, alternating between "Credentials Expired" and "Credentials Valid". It will throw up 50+ of these dialogs, completely filling the taskbar.

It seems like this happens whenever credentials expire.

I'd just like to add that these notifications are not appearing as balloon notifications, but rather the ugly dialog windows which appear when notifications are created with actions.
This continues to be pretty annoying since each notification remains until the OK button is clicked. Even killing krb5-auth-dialog does not destroy the already-created notifications.
As a workaround, I've clicked "Do not show this again" on the notifications, but this is not ideal, since I must now keep an eye on the tray applet to know if my credentials are close to expiring.

We see them too here at the University of Oslo, and it make krb-auth-dialog very annoying when left running over the night.

I discussed this with upstream, and he do not experience the problem on Debian. He suspected it was
caused by some changed done to the notification system in Ubuntu.

Yes, I believe this is the problem. Ubuntu's libnotify does not support notifications with action buttons. If asked to pop up a notification with action buttons, it displays it as a separate message box window instead.

Observed this bug on Lucid. Seems to be fixed upstream starting with version 2.91.6-1 according to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=583739 , which made it into Ubuntu 11.10 and newer.
