Bug Description

With the latest version of ubuntu I'm seeing problems with intellij idea getting stuck at times (seemingly on file I/O). When I killed the process and restarted it, during the scanning of files it does at startup the screen switched to a framebuffer with the output in attachment.

I could switch back to vt7 okay and continue working though (did not reboot before reporting this). This bug appears related to #1047261, since I still now and then see output like:
ecryptfs_encrypt_page: Error attempting to write lower page; rc = [-5]
in syslog.

I'm sorry I do not have a more specific testcase, the code it was trying to load in (including maven artifacts) you can find at https://github.com/wdesmet/grs-web

Attached is everything from the header line:

Forgot to mention, I believe it's related to the "fsnotifier64" binary IDEA uses to scan and index files. Restarting the application works, but it gets stuck while trying to execute that there, so it seems to be doing something ecryptfs just can't deal with.

Hello - Thanks for the bug report.

Can you please update to kernel 3.2.0-32.51 and see if this bug is still present? That kernel update includes fixes for another closely related bug found by a different intellij idea user. I'm almost certain that this is the same bug.

By the time that you read this, that kernel may already be available in the updates pocket and an 'apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade' is all that will be needed. However, if 3.2.0-32.51 is still the newest kernel in the update pocket, then you'll need to enable -proposed. You can find information on how to do that here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

Thank you!

I think you're right. I just tested and it got through the indexing step without problems. It did seem well before but I believe that was because it was not indexing at those times. So hopefully this has indeed already been fixed. Thank you.
