Bug Description

Since switching to Intrepid I have no network after resuming from hibernation.

I've diffed the loaded modules after waking up and after rebooting. The difference is, that sky2 and forcedeth are not present/loaded after waking up.

The hack to make this work (debian/patches/98-unload_network_modules.patch) has been removed in pm-utils (1.1.0-1ubuntu1) during Intrepid development.

WORKAROUND:
After resuming enter the following in a console and the network should come up again a few seconds later:
  sudo modprobe forcedeth

I've added a file /etc/pm/config.d/10resumeforcedeth which takes care of this automatically:
$ cat /etc/pm/config.d/10resumeforcedeth
# Resume network (https://launchpad.net/bugs/283462)
RESUME_MODULES=forcedeth

As this is about hibernation (suspend to disk), I do not think this is a duplicate of #288281.
