I don't think they need to fix anything, they just need to make sure problems they solved before are included in new releases. The Gbook I have had Ubuntu 8.04 preinstalled and sound worked properly. At some point Canonical must have been working with Everex or VIA on this driver.

Sure hope you guys can get this working.
