Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth

Computer: Dell XPS M2010.
Release: 10.10 Maverick

This computer has a special detachable bluetooth keyboard that is controlled by the BIOS. It works fine in Grub but stops working as soon as Linux loads (even from a live CD). The keyboard also has a mouse pad built in that DOES work with no problems, even if bluetooth is switched OFF in Ubuntu.

Apparently, the BIOS simulates USB, I don't know if that is relevant.

This bug has been reported before, but closed unsolved: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/37288?comments=all

affects: gnome-bluetooth (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Hi Eddie,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 714764

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I am unable to test the latest development release because it hangs when loading the partitioner. I shall try testing the kernel, if I am able to.
