Bug Description
I'm filing this bug here, as a place holder. I expect it'll need to get linked or moved elsewhere.
For 14.04.1, it would be quite handy to build a larger image, perhaps a DVD/USB sized Ubuntu Server image, with the additional bits that MAAS needs to bootstrap nodes. At a bare minimum, include in the single download the PXE/ISO images needed to boot a single architecture, as well as a single architecture's fastpath installation image.
There certainly are people more knowledgeable than I about the most efficient way to accomplish this.
The problem, as I see, from a user experience perspective, is that even after you've installed MAAS, you might be an hour or more away from actually being able to do anything with it, while you download a bunch of extra images.
It would be quite convenient to bundle all of this up into a single ~2GB download. This would be particularly handy when one need to deploy and use MAAS in an environment that does not have internet connectivity, if you could get everything you need on a single USB stick.
Thanks Dustin. This sounds like a good idea. I suppose we'll want to build a simplestreams mirror into the installation, perhaps by putting one on the ISO and mirroring over into the installation or something.
Do we need a blueprint to track this? I imagine there are various pieces that need to fit together for this to work.
