Bug Description

This is a wishlist item for the next LTS version:

Please add an option for installation of a mult-seat workstation to the install disc for the next LTS version of Ubuntu.

This would boost uptake in small schools, libraries as well as in homes with many children.

It will take some fiddling with X and maybe something in /etc/udev/ruled.d/

LTSP is an option, but multi-seat has even lower infrastructure requirements and can be used by itself or in conjunction with LTSP

wishlist is a status. I'm guessing that the relevant package is Xorg or KDM.

xorg is not the correct component for this, and I don't know which is.

There is a package called multiseat, that's where to start, or else KDM

I don't see the status for 'wishlist'

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD development release - Maverick Meerkat. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Are there any updates - when "out-of-the-box" multiseat support might be expected in ubuntu?
How long it might take to catch-up with Fedora?

Kubuntu works out of the box by simply configuring your xorg.cof and kdmrc as described in the above link for MultiseatX. PulseAudio also needs to be tweaked manually but it is also working just fine. GUI tools would be nice for new users, but once it is setup, it just works. I am attaching my files in case they help somebody.
