Bug Description

Binary package hint: notify-osd

Every time I login I get a notification that my laptop battery is broken. This bubble pops up before compiz is loaded (is my guess) and it results in displaying a black box around that bubble. The result can be seen in 'black box.png'. This occurs at every login.

A fix could be that notify-osd should wait for compiz to start (if compiz is set as the default window manager).

A general approach to fix this is to make compiz (or any other compositing window-manager) always be the first process to start for a gnome-session. Shuffling the start-order of session-processes around sounds like a paper-cut to me.

I don't think it's about starting too early, because when i start to change volume even earlier a bubble appears, but it doesn't have this black box around it. I think it could be a bug just in "battery broken" notification, because (if no one gets it with other notification;)) it's only happening with that notification.

Why not wait that the complete desktop has loaded before sending out that notification?

Furthermore at each login i get notified, and it is becoming quite annoying. Why does it is not shown only once?
