Bug Description

CID: 201204-10924 Lenovo V480

The resolution cannot be adjusted with the NVIDIA proprietary driver installed.

Steps:
1. Install 12.04.3 + update (3.8.0-33) + NVIDIA proprietary driver (nvidia-319-updates)
2. Boot to desktop
3. Try to adjust the display resolution with the "Display" applet
4. Try to adjust the display resolution with "xrandr" in a Terminal

Expected result
- Resolution could be adjusted.

Actual result
1. When you try to adjust it via the "Display" applet, the following error message will pops-up:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface `org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XRANDR_2' on object at path /org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/XRANDR
2. When you're using xrandr to adjust it:
xrandr --output LVDS-0 --mode 800x600 -r 60 --verbose
Xorg will be killed and restarted, leads you to the Login screen.

There's a known issue in the Display panel LP: #1224254

As for xrandr, that should not happen. Please reproduce the problem and:

1) type "sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh" and attach nvidia-bug-report.log
2) attach the content of the /var/log/lightdm directory

Does it work if you upgrade to the lts-saucy stack (in precise-proposed)?

LP: #1224254 should've fixed at least part of this bug

With 12.04.4 (3.11.0-15) and nvidia-331-updates driver,
resolution adjustment works fine.

Series "Saucy" will be nominated, if accepted, it will be marked as fix-released (just for tracking purpose).
