Bug Description

when configured and installed iscsi target for OS boot, boot will fail after installation and drops out to shell. dhcp doesn't seems to work neither. User has to run `iscsistart -b` manually to login to iscsi boot target, type `exit` for OS to continue to boot.

Do you happen to know if this issues also happens in releases newer than 14.04?

No, we have not tested other versions.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.0 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

This is not a kernel problem but rather a init script problem with initrd not executing `iscsistart` command to login to iscsi boot target. If you read bug description above, you will see there is a workaround by manually running this command on 14.04. I know sles11sp3/rhel6.1 or later are working even though their kernels are older than v4.0.

I see this bug has been updated to Confirmed. Can someone comment on next steps? A Canonical partner is interested in the status of a fix in Ubuntu.

When the bug was moved to confirmed, was the init script fixed and tested as per comment #6?

Brian - who at Canonical can help us understand what's happening with this bug? It's not obvious who on your team owns answering this. Janitor is very generic w/no name associated with it.

thx
