Bug Description

Binary package hint: pcmanfm

This occurred on a Maverick amd64 system with pcmanfm 0.9.7-1ubuntu1 and libfm0/libfm-gtk0 0.1.12-1ubuntu2. I am not sure what triggered this bug. I have an external USB hard drive that appeared to be disconnected and reconnected, though I cannot confirm even that, since I did not disconnect/reconnect (or cycle its power) myself. It wasn't just pcmanfm that was unable to read the drive, however--I had playlist items on the drive and audacious2 was unable to play those songs until the drive showed up as having been remounted. After pcmanfm crashed, the drive access light started blinking (as it normally does when being accessed), and I was able to access the drive in a new pcmanfm window. I have not (yet) reproduced the bug. External USB drives on my computer have been turned off and back on without being remounted in the past (not that I'm sure that's what happened here), and this crash did not happen.

I have just experienced this crash (same system and package versions) when dragging the mount point of a smbmounted (i.e., mount.cifs) remote Samba share into my bookmarks. When pcmanfm restarted, it was successfully added to the bookmarks.

Well, that seemed familiar to me. So I tried dragging in a normal, local folder, and the same crash occurred. Notably, it seemed to be *this* crash, and not the crash documented at bug 635849. Given that, I suspect that when I originally experienced this problem, I found bug 635849, assumed that was it by the very similar description, and posted information there. So unless someone else says that they still experience bug 635849, I think it should probably be marked Incomplete again (or Invalid, if Pierre, who filed it, can no longer reproduce it).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
