Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Just recently. The facebook plugin just stops working in the middle of a chat session. The other person still appears to be online, and I appear to be sending messages from my end.

The other person sees me as offline. Quiting pidgin and starting it up again will fix the problem.

I have a log file of one of the incidents. I am not exactly sure where it occurred though.
Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We need a little more information before we can proceed. What version of the pidgin-facebookchat package do you have installed? Are you able to successfully send messages to anyone else once this happens?

I am using Pidgin 2.5.5 on Ubuntu 9.04
The FB plugin is 1.47. I think that is the newest release.

It would appear I'm not able to send to others. I don't chat with multiple facebook folks, but I did try to summons a few after my active chat went silent, and no one replied.

To them, it looks like I went offline. To me, it just appears their ignoring me. No status change or message bounces.

It only seems to correct itself by stopping and starting the app completely.

It happens often, but not anything I can force reproduce. Was hoping the log would help you out.

Let me know if there is anything you need me to do. Thanks!

Hi there!

My Pidgin-Facebookchat doesn't work at all on Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10, I have the standard-Installation of pidgin, which is on 9.10 Pidgin V.2.6.2, and pidgin-facebookchat 1.60-1.1
It just doesn't connect to facebook at all. At startup it says "unable to connect to buddy-list"
On Ubuntu 9.04 it was working a little, that means, buddy-list was shown, people on and offline were shown, I could write to them, but couldn't get any answer. People trying to write me, just won't get through, FB telling them I was offline...
But like I said, on Ubuntu 9.10 it's totally dead...

I hope this will help someone fix this, even if it's not quite the same reported by the others...

Have a good time!!!

Hi Chris,

Your issue separate, and is in fact Bug #474872.

We just need to wait for the new version to be sync'd (or download and install it yourself from upstream)

Regards
